The DOM recording studio has 1-2 student workers on payroll. If you think you might be interested in a job, please take a look at the requirements:
Workers must:
1) Take Initiative / Communicate
The job does not have regular hours. As such, it can be difficult to communicate. Therefore, communication is the student worker's responsibility. The recording studio student worker must maintain regular contact with the studio manager to schedule work (training, concerts, post-production). This means calling, emailing, Facebooking, etc. the manager multiple times per week - not waiting for the manager to track you down.
2) Submit to the Schedule
The job puts the student worker at the mercy of a schedule over which the recording studio has little to no control. We are busiest recording concerts and recitals at the same time of the semester when students are at their busiest. Consider that relationship very carefully before applying.
3) Love to Learn
This job is much easier and much more fun when the student has a natural interest in recording music and a natural inclination toward technical things (software, computer hardware, audio mixing boards, etc). If recording is not a SIGNIFICANT personal interest, this job can quickly become drudgery.
